Overview

Promociones Antonio Peña, S.A. de C.V. d/b/a Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (commonly referred to as simply AAA, pronounced "triple A" – an abbreviation of its original name Asistencia, Asesoría y Administración de Espectáculos,  'Attendance, Advisory, and Administration of Spectacles') is a Mexican Lucha Libre (professional wrestling) promotion based in Mexico City, Mexico. It was founded in 1992, when Antonio Peña broke away from Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) to set up his own promotion to have more creative freedom. On April 19, 2025 it was announced that AAA had been acquired by WWE.

Standout Aspects

Stunts

AAA invented the TLC match—expect death-defying spots that make WWE look tame.

Costume

Iconic mask designs that are actual cultural artifacts, not merch cash grabs.

Best for:Binge: Mainline 11 episodes of pure lucha chaos before WWE homogenizes everything.·Friends: Scream at insane spots with people who appreciate organized insanity.
Heads up:Violence: Hardcore wrestling with legitimately dangerous stunts—this ain't PG WWE.

Trivia, insights & behind the scenes

Cultural

AAA's founding was literally a labor revolt—Peña walked out of CMLL with half the roster to create something artistically free. WWE buying it in 2025 is poetic, brutal irony.

Trivia

The 'triple A' name originally stood for 'Attendance, Advisory, and Administration' in Spanish—peak 1992 corporate wrestling nonsense that somehow stuck for 33 years.
