AEW Dynamite launched in 2019 as the first major wrestling competition to WWE in two decades, backed by billionaire Tony Khan and fronted by disgruntled ex-WWE stars and indie darlings.
The 'Dynamite' name came from the famous 1992 NJPW Tokyo Dome show, and the premiere episode featured the debut of Jon Moxley (formerly WWE's Dean Ambrose) as a surprise unannounced free agent.
