Trivia, insights & behind the scenes

Cultural

Directly inspired CSI, Bones, and every forensic show you've ever binged. Klugman personally lobbied Congress to update the coroner system.

Trivia

The 'Sam' name was a deliberate tribute to Sammy Davis Jr., a close friend of Klugman's who wanted the role but couldn't commit to series television.
