Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Bernard is a rare Korean-Spanish-French co-production, reflecting early 2000s European-Asian animation partnerships that bypassed American studios entirely.
The show's original Korean title 'Backkom' became 'Bernard' internationally, but the bear's design was reportedly inspired by a real polar bear at a Seoul zoo who kept slipping on ice.
