Trivia, insights & behind the scenes

Cultural

This show single-handedly created the 'TV doctor' phenomenon and influenced decades of medical dramas from St. Elsewhere to Grey's Anatomy.

Trivia

Robert Young was 62 when cast; ABC initially rejected him as 'too old' for a leading man. The pilot's success proved them hilariously wrong.
