Standout Aspects

Acting

McGoohan's simmering intensity makes brooding an Olympic sport.

Direction

Smart's globe-trotting noir aesthetic invented prestige TV decades early.

Writing

Drake rarely uses a gun—this spy outwits, outlasts, outclasses.

Best for:Solo: Late-night viewing with a stiff drink and a suspicious mind.·Binge: Absorb the evolution from cautious 60s procedural to psychedelic spy fever dream.

Trivia

McGoohan turned down James Bond twice—he thought the character was immoral. Drake was his moral counter-proposal.

Cultural

The 1968 cancellation? McGoohan demanded it, already cooking The Prisoner. Danger Man literally died so its successor could live.
