Deep Dive

Trivia, insights & behind the scenes

Cultural

Hardball arrived at the tail end of the 80s buddy-cop boom, when networks greenlit anything with mismatched partners and car chases. It got buried by Cheers and Golden Girls.

Trivia

John Ashton had just played the same weary cop energy in Midnight Run; Richard Tyson was fresh off Three O'Clock High. The casting director clearly had a type.
