Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
K.L. Saigal recorded all songs in one marathon session because the studio couldn't afford multiple bookings. His voice was already deteriorating from alcoholism — making the fragility in 'Diya Jalao' unintentionally prophetic.
This film cemented the 'Tansen legend' in popular consciousness more than history itself — the real Tansen's biography is largely apocryphal, but Saigal's portrayal became the definitive version for generations.
