Released months before COVID-19, the medical system collapse scenes hit uncomfortably different now. The film's 2030 surveillance infrastructure already exists in parts of Tokyo's Shibuya district.
The AI interface design was created by actual UX designers from SoftBank Robotics, who later said the film's 'worst case' scenarios were technically feasible with 2020s technology.
