Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Cardona Jr. was Mexico's king of exploitation cinema; this was his attempt at 'respectable' comedy after decades of horror and lucha libre films. The beach setting wasn't random—Acapulco tourism was peaking, and he wanted to capture real Mexico for Mexican audiences.
Most 'victims' never signed releases; production allegedly paid them off with free drinks and resort vouchers. Several scenes were filmed at the same hotel where Cardona's father shot classic 1950s Mexican melodramas.
