Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Christina Beck wrote the script after working with self-harm survivors and wanted to avoid 'after school special' tropes. She cast Jeff Kober (Harry) specifically because of his real-life sobriety journey.
The film was largely ignored by mainstream critics but developed a cult following in harm-reduction communities who praised its refusal to moralize self-injury.
