Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Director Luigi Cozzi made this after Star Wars destroyed his planned Sinbad movie's budget, so he pivoted to 'Hercules in space' instead. The bear-throwing scene used a real stuffed animal on wires.
This film and its sequel exist because Cannon Films wanted their own Conan, but cheaper. It became a cable TV staple that Gen X kids remember more vividly than actual Greek myths.
