Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Smith worked at Quick Stop during filming, shooting only at night after closing. The store's actual owner appears as the 'milk maid' customer.
This launched the View Askewniverse and proved indie filmmakers didn't need Hollywood—just credit card debt and a convenience store. It also pioneered the 'workplace as purgatory' comedy that The Office and Superstore would later mine.
