Tarok (2013)

sweaty stablesNordic stoicismgenerational baggage

Overview

Drama

A family saga spanning three decades based on the mythology of the most famous race horse Denmark has ever seen. A horse which did the impossible and put Denmark on the world map through its many great victories. The film is first and foremost about the family who owned Tarok and believed in its greatness - and who, against all odds, gave Denmark hope and courage to dream.

Standout Aspects

Acting

Bjarne Henriksen's gruff patriarch will wreck you silently.

Production

Three decades of Danish history, one impeccably weathered farmhouse.

Best for:Solo: Rainy Sunday when you need a good cathartic ugly-cry.·Streaming: Avoid the theatre — this needs pauses for emotional recovery.
Heads up:Emotional: Animal lovers: the horse's fate hits harder than expected.
