Standout Aspects

Direction

One-take bank robbery—no cuts, pure adrenaline.

Cinematography

Shadows so thick you could shoot through them.

Acting

Peggy Cummins invents the unhinged girlfriend archetype.

Best for:Solo: Late night, rain on windows, whiskey optional.·Date Night: Test if they're psycho—do they root for Annie?·Rewatch: Notice how the camera becomes a weapon.
Heads up:Violence: Gun deaths played as romantic thrills—deeply unsettling.·Triggers: Coercive relationship; she's trapped, he's addicted.

Trivia

The legendary bank heist was shot in real time with no permits; pedestrians had no idea it was fake.

Cultural

Bonnie and Clyde (1967) owes everything to this—Arthur Penn basically made it a color remake.
