Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Parramatta Correctional Centre closed in 2011 after 164 years; production was among the last to film inside. The cells still had prisoner graffiti.
George Basha based Ray partly on Lebanese-Australian men he grew up with in Sydney's west—communities over-represented in incarceration but rarely centered in Australian film.
