The Powerslave album cover's hieroglyphs are mostly authentic — the band hired an Egyptologist who later revealed he'd hidden a rude message about his ex-wife in the symbols.
This period invented the modern stadium metal show: the mummy sarcophagus, the pyrotechnics, the Eddie mascot at massive scale. Every Iron Maiden tour since is essentially a remix of this 1984-85 blueprint.
