Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Noel Clarke wrote the script in three weeks, drawing from his own west London childhood. He'd sleep in his car to stay in the mindset.
This film basically invented the 'hood movie' genre for UK cinema — Attack the Block, Blue Story, even Top Boy owe it everything. Clarke later became the first Black person to win BAFTA's Outstanding British Contribution award.
