Sam works as a priest in a small town. Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Swedish 'Nordic noir' has evolved from detective procedurals to this — moral thrillers where institutions (church, state, family) fail and individuals must sin to survive. Ovnell fits the post-Östlund wave of uncomfortable Swedish cinema.
The title's biblical reference isn't subtle — Sam carries the sins of the town's inaction, but the film asks whether one scapegoat absolves everyone else or just lets them keep hiding.
