Based on Astrid Lindgren's books, Emil is basically Sweden's national mascot of mischief. The woodshed became such iconic punishment that actual Swedish parents reference it.
The piglet was played by multiple piglets because baby pigs grow FAST. They reportedly ate through one prop fence entirely.
