Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
The creators explicitly wanted to export Brazil's prison crisis to supernatural horror — the Amazon setting isn't random, it's where the state disappears people.
The prison location was active until 2002 and still had prisoner graffiti; production had to spiritually cleanse the set. Several crew members refused night shoots alone.
