Standout Aspects

Acting

Bo Svenson carries the Pusser legacy with lumbering, wounded gravitas.

Production

Gritty '81 network TV aesthetic—cheap, sincere, accidentally time-capsule perfect.

Best for:Binge: One lazy Sunday—you can finish the *entire series* in an afternoon.·Background: Fold laundry to the sound of righteous Tennessee twang and wood-splintering justice.·Solo: For when you want to feel like you discovered something nobody remembers.

Deep Dive

Trivia, insights & behind the scenes

Trivia

The 1973 film was a massive hit that spawned two sequels and this series—yet NBC couldn't keep it alive even with that built-in audience.

Cultural

Buford Pusser became a folk hero symbolizing '70s backlash against corruption, but the real man died in a suspicious car crash in 1974—seven years before this show aired.
