Overview

Drama

Live Through This is a teen drama broadcast on MTV during the 2000–2001 season, though cancelled after only 13 episodes due to poor ratings. The hour-long drama plot involved a fictional 1980s band entitled "The Jackson Decker Band" reuniting for one last comeback tour. Each episode featured original music written by Graham Nash and performed by Pat Benatar. It was the first hour-long drama series to be aired on MTV.

Standout Aspects

Score

Graham Nash originals performed by actual Pat Benatar.

Production

MTV's first hour drama—ambitious swing, messy landing.

Acting

Jane McGregor anchors the teen chaos with surprising warmth.

Best for:Binge: One weekend, 13 episodes—commitment lighter than a Spotify playlist.·Solo: Late-night rabbit hole for music-TV archaeology nerds.·Rewatch: If you caught it in 2000 and need closure.
Heads up:Drug Use: Rockstar excess includes on-screen substance use.

Deep Dive

Trivia, insights & behind the scenes

Cultural

This was MTV's failed attempt to clone 'Once and Again' teen appeal while chasing 'Behind the Music' documentary cred—network identity crisis embodied.

Trivia

Creator Brian Strause later wrote for 'Party of Five'—you can see the DNA of sibling drama that might've flourished given time.
