Marsupilami was created by Belgian comics legend André Franquin in 1952, making this Disney adaptation roughly 40 years late to the party.
The character's signature 'HOUBA' was Franquin's nonsense invention — Disney kept it untouched, making this one of the rare times an American studio didn't try to 'fix' European weirdness.
