Caillou became an internet meme villain in the 2010s, with Reddit threads and Twitter accounts dedicated to roasting his behavior. The backlash got so intense that PBS stopped airing reruns in 2021.
The original French-Canadian books by Hélène Desputeaux actually depicted Caillou as a nine-month-old infant—he only became four and bald for the TV adaptation to be more relatable to preschoolers.
