Standout Aspects

Acting

Kenta Miyake's devastatingly gentle giant performance.

Writing

Biting social commentary disguised as military procedural.

Best for:Streaming: Late-night binge when you want politics with your punches.·Solo: Anime fan craving something weirdly specific and underseen.
Heads up:Violence: Graphic war flashbacks and door-gun massacre sequences.·Disturbing: PTSD episodes played for horror, not laughs.

Deep Dive

Trivia, insights & behind the scenes

Trivia

The title 'Pumpkin Scissors' refers to Alice's unit cutting through the pumpkin-like fat of post-war corruption—Ryotaro Iwanaga confirmed this in a 2007 interview.

Cultural

Randel's anti-tank lantern is based on real WWI German weaponry, the Tankgewehr—Gonzo's military research was shockingly accurate for a show this absurd.
