Overview

ComedyAction & Adventure

Australia – a land as massive as it is vast. And when it comes to outback adventurers they don't come any better, bigger or more reckless than Russell Coight. Winner of the prestigious Ocker Award for services to khaki shorts, Russell takes us on a unique blend of over-the-top, off-road, outback, in-your-face Aussie Adventures!

Standout Aspects

Acting

Glenn Robbins' commitment to pure idiot energy.

Writing

Deadpan narration that's somehow worse each rewatch.

Practical Effects

Genuine outback locations, genuine fake competence.

Best for:Friends: Group watch with mates, beers mandatory.·Binge: Smash a season in one chaotic evening.·Background: On while planning your own doomed camping trip.
Heads up:Disturbing: Animal encounters handled with alarming negligence.

Cultural

The character directly parodies Steve Irwin and 1980s outback survival shows, becoming more pointed after Irwin's death.

Reactions from the web

one of the most sincerely entertaining shows ever made in Australian Television

@ConnWilliams 206

We need more Coight on television.

@BradGryphonn 44

It is such a shame that, after all those decades of surviving the Australian Bush, poor Russel Coight was caught out by a dodgy Peri Peri at Nando's in the Surrey Hills. He will be sorely missed by all of us Bushies on the Sterling Ranges.
