Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Borley Rectory was already demolished by 1944, so all 'current' footage uses carefully matched substitute locations.
The show's 'empath' role follows a long British TV tradition of including unverifiable claims for balance, dating back to 1970s paranormal programming.

Unfortunately, I found this documentary to be very underwhelming and disappointing. I expected to see compelling research from both sides but you don't even get to see any of them do the research. They all meet up at the end and give their opinions. You never actually see them go into the "haunted" buildings or interact with anything. The history is very vague and gives absolutely no context whatsoever. In one it's just oh, a nun was thrown down a well because she had an affair with a monk. Ok, where is the research that when into this? Where does this story come from? The positive feedback I will give is that the atmosphere is very good and it is filmed very well. I also love how there are 4 people; 2 who believe in ghosts, 2 who don't and want to look at it from a more logical standpoint, and even though I personally don't believe in ghosts I always try to look at these things with an open mind and try to understand people's points of view, but with no context or very much understanding I found the ghost believer's opinions to be childish. One woman got offended when this other girl, Rachel said that there is no concrete evidence to prove that this place is haunted and she got angry and said that it was haunted because of how she felt. I kind of feel that she just felt that she wanted it to be haunted more than anything and it really did come off as a bit ridiculous and silly that she was getting riled up over something so miniscule.

Its a good but very rushed first investigation and an halfbaked extremely rushed second investigation that just serves to make the empath look like a moron its more annoying that the team in it had potential if they made each investigation its own hourlong investigation it would probably fix its problems or just make it longer as is you spend more time anoyed with waht could have been than happy about waht is
