Jake takes out an ad in the newspaper after the suicide of his unfaithful fiancée, in an effort to understand the reasons for the betrayal. By soliciting the secret diaries of other women, he hopes to find some reconciliation with the truth.

Created by Zalman King, who basically invented the 'erotic thriller' aesthetic of the 90s. This was Showtime's answer to HBO's 'Real Sex' with a narrative bow on top.
Duchovny filmed most of his segments in a single day per season, standing in random locations looking pensive. The 'red shoes' themselves barely appear after the pilot.
