Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Tokyo Revengers revived mainstream interest in 'furyo' (bad boy) culture, a genre dormant since the 1980s—complete with retro pompadours and modified school uniforms that became actual fashion trends.
The manga author Ken Wakui was reportedly a former delinquent himself, which explains why the gang hierarchies and honor codes feel lived-in rather than romanticized—Mikey's tragic arc mirrors real patterns of charismatic leaders who can't outrun their own damage.
