Damir Kabekovich Manabaev (Kazakh: Дамир Кабекеұлы Манабай; born 11 June 1946; Shymkent) is a Soviet and Kazakh film director and screenwriter. His films "Surzhekey-angel of death" and "Kek" are participants and prize-winners of international film festivals. Graduated from the Shymkent Polytechnic; directing faculty of VGIK (master. Yu. Egorova, 1978). Prior to the institute, he worked in working specialties at the factories of Karatau, Shymkent, Alma-Ata, served in the SA. Member of the Union of Cinematographers of the USSR (1988).
