The blob effects still outgross most modern CGI garbage.
Direction
Chuck Russell keeps 95 minutes tight, nasty, and surprisingly smart.
Writing
Frank Darabont's script actually bothers with character arcs. Wild.

Director
Chuck Russell
Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
The blob was mostly methocel, a food thickener, dyed with food coloring. Multiple sets were built twice — once normal, once with everything coated in pink slime.
This remake completely inverts the 1958 original's Cold War optimism, turning the military from saviors into the real monsters. Reagan-era paranoia never looked stickier.
