Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Robbie Amell did most of his own swimming shots after training with an Olympic coach for three weeks. The drowning rescue scene? One take, real waves, actual panic.
Director Sherren Lee specifically cast Michelle Krusiec (Waverly's mom) to echo her own experience as a Taiwanese-Canadian navigating parental expectations—those dinner table silences are autobiographical.
