Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Post-reunification German cinema often dissected new money anxieties; Willenbrock's BMW and cottage are status symbols of a hollow Wirtschaftswunder 2.0.
Dresen deliberately blurred thriller and comedy genres to trap viewers in Willenbrock's own inability to recognize real danger—notice how the 'break-in' music never quite arrives.
