Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
One of the 'Big Six' studios' last pre-Code releases before enforcement began July 1934—Bow's career collapsed partly because talkies exposed her Brooklyn accent, partly because the new moral regime had no place for her brand of unapologetic sexuality.
Fox destroyed most prints believing the film worthless; the surviving negative was found in a 1970s Czech archive with Czech subtitles baked in, which is why some lines remain partially obscured in modern restorations.
