Trivia, insights & behind the scenes

Trivia

Director Éric Rochat was primarily known for erotic films; this was his baffling pivot to family entertainment. The robot suit was allegedly recycled from a Japanese TV commercial.

Cultural

The film captures peak 1980s Western fascination with Japan as futuristic wonderland, complete with casual cultural tourism that aged like milk.
