Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
This compilation film was rushed to theaters to capitalize on the second season's finale buzz, with new bridging scenes animated specifically for the 68-minute cut.
Hamatora premiered in 2014's 'superpowered battle anime' boom alongside Tokyo Ghoul and K, but its detective-procedural structure and Yokohama setting made it distinctively urban-Japanese rather than fantasy-escapist.
