Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Shot during France's post-1968 sexual revolution, when 'liberation' often meant men negotiating their wives into things. The film both satirizes and embodies this tension.
Claude Berri was already a successful actor-director; this was his fourth feature. The self-casting as a hapless husband suggests some uncomfortable autobiographical processing.
