Based on the true 'Plan A' (aka Nakam), a real Jewish revenge group led by Abba Kovner who actually plotted to poison German water supplies. Most were arrested before execution; the bread poisoning at Nuremberg POW camp did occur, sickening thousands but killing none.
The Paz brothers deliberately cast German actor August Diehl—who played a Nazi in Inglourious Basterds—to collapse the audience's moral compass: we instinctively trust faces we've seen before, then question why.
