My favorite episode of Cinema Europe! I really love Swedish Silent films and the legendary directors and the stars who graced the screen! ❤️🌹🌹🇸🇪📽

You can see something else in Greta Garbo's first starring screen appearance, besides her prodigious talent: the cameraman clearly knew how to LIGHT her to the best effect, even outdoors and in low ambient light. It's an effect which American cinematographer William Daniels would use to huge advantage in Garbo's Hollywood films.

Anyone else notice how the theme for Love's Crucible sounds suspiciously like a certain John Williams score? (48:00 - 48:20)
