In this making-of documentary, we see movie snippets, shots from the set, and interviews. We get notes from the crew and cast. We learn about the movie's genesis and development, the choice of time period and setting, finding a location and creating the sets, the flick's visual design and cinematography, working with the actors and bonding on the set, the costumes, problems with the weather, shooting in the woods, casting, the actors' "boot camp", editing and storyboards, audio design, the score, and the movie's creatures.
Production
Building an entire 1897 village from scratch in Pennsylvania woods.
Costume
Dyeing fabric with actual vegetables to achieve that muted, paranoid palette.
Practical Effects
Those 'creatures' were real suits, not CGI—Bryce Howard couldn't see the actors inside.

Director
Laurent Bouzereau
Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
The documentary conveniently sidesteps the film's critical drubbing, focusing entirely on craft—classic Bouzereau damage control, baby.
This 25-minute featurette exists in a weird time capsule: post-Sixth Sense Shyamalan hubris, right before Lady in the Water would tank his career entirely. They're still SMILING here.
