Irena has everything she could want from life – she is beautiful, young, rich, her husband, a lawyer, has a good position, in short, a happy family with one child – it would seem – a happy fate. But life turns into hell for the heroine. All it took was one small infidelity, a fascination with a young composer, or perhaps a simple desire to please.

Made during the Prague Spring's brief thaw, this was one of few Czech films to examine female sexuality without socialist-realist moralizing.
The entire film was shot in the actual apartment of cinematographer Jan Čuřík's mother-in-law, who refused to move her furniture.
