Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Richard Dix was a genuine silent film star sliding into B-pictures by 1943; this was one of his final leading roles before retirement.
The 'banker as villain' trope peaked during the Depression and WWII, when audiences loved watching financial predators get punched. This film is basically economic revenge fantasy for the 99%.
