A floating jazz station that defied the FCC, gravity, and good sense for 42 glorious years.

Saxophonist turned filmmaker Christopher Braig's second Film will focus on the people, music, and cities that kept "The Jazz Ark" sailing for 42 years from 1968 to 2000.

Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
WNOP anchored in Newport, Kentucky specifically to exploit looser Ohio River jurisdiction while broadcasting to Cincinnati—pure pirate logic made legal.
The 'Jazz Ark' wasn't metaphorical—it was literally a floating barge that survived floods, ice, and one near-collision with a coal barge in '87.
