Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Kanata Hongo (Tendo) was already famous as Ryuuki in the live-action Death Note series — this role weaponizes his ethereal screen presence in the opposite direction.
The film taps into actual Japanese rural depopulation anxiety, where 'village legends' often mask real histories of ostracism and scapegoating.
