Deep Dive

Trivia, insights & behind the scenes

Cultural

The Atacama Desert is littered with disappeared bodies from Pinochet's regime—Moreno weaponizes this real geography of state violence against Euripides's domestic tragedy.

Insight

By making Medea explicitly 'expelled from the mining region,' Moreno grafts extractive capitalism onto Jason's betrayal—her body and her land both mined dry.
