Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
This 7-minute grenade predated The Velvet Underground & Nico album by a year, essentially previewing the sound that would 'sell only 30,000 copies but everyone who bought one started a band.'
The Delmonico Hotel was upscale establishment; Warhol choosing it for deliberate chaos was peak Factory trolling. One psychiatrist reportedly asked 'Is this a joke?' — no, sir, it was a revolution.
