Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Kento Nakajima and Ayami Nakajo were both Johnny's idols before acting, making their casting a calculated fan-service collision that drove opening weekend numbers.
The fake dating trope (giji koibito) exploded in 2010s manga partly because it lets Japanese teen stories explore intimacy within rigid social expectations — this adaptation leans hard into that tension.
