Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
This was one of Laurel & Hardy's final silent shorts before talkies took over—Hal Roach kept them in two-reelers while other stars got features.
The title's sarcastic question became a meta-joke: critics at the time noted the detectives don't think at all, which IS the point. Silent comedy rewarded audience superiority.
