Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
This film exemplifies 1950s Egyptian 'white telephone' cinema — glamorous melodramas about wealthy families that dominated Arab film production before the industry's 1960s nationalization.
Shadia was already Egypt's biggest singing star when she made this; director Hassan Ramzy cast her repeatedly, knowing her star power could carry even convoluted romantic plots.
